One person dead after weekend crash near Greenwood

GREENWOOD, Neb. -- The Nebraska State Patrol is investigating a crash that left one person dead.

It happened Saturday afternoon on westbound I-80 near Greenwood. Witnesses told troopers that an SUV veered off the interstate and crashed into a creek.

Medics tried to rescue the driver but they were pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities did not immediately release the man’s name.
