Chamber Announces Grand Marshall

Beatrice Chamber officials announced Thursday this year's Grand Marshall for the Homestead Days parade.

A former President of the Beatrice National Bank has been selected as this year’s Grand Marshall of the Homestead Days parade.  William “Bill” Cook Junior was presented a plaque Thursday night by Beatrice Chamber officials as they announced their selection for this year’s Grand Marshall.

Cook has been active in many organizations including the Beatrice Jaycees, Beatrice Rotary Club, Beatrice Airport Authority, Blue Valley Shrine Club and many other organizations

As he accepted the plaque, Cook who has served on numerous boards in the community, said “the Cook family goes back a long long way and we have always felt strongly that you get out of what you put into it”.

Cook served in the U-S Army Reserve as a Captain in Artillery.

He joined the Beatrice National Bank and Trust Company in 1961 and retired in 2002.

Cook, along with his wife Betty, will ride in this year’s parade that will travel down court street Saturday morning beginning at 10:00am.
