The 2021 Custer Rowdy High School Rodeo was held over Memorial Day weekend in Oelrichs, SD with area talent competing. Hay Springs, Sioux County and Chadron Rodeo contestants were there to represent their schools. 

Gabe Glines from Chadron, is in his rookie year of high school rodeo, competed in both rough stock and timed events. He held on to win the steer wrestling and placed in both tie down roping and team roping, bringing home his first all-around cowboy title for the season.

Cadell Brunsch of Hay Springs, a two time returning national qualifier in reined cow horse, took first place in the competition, while his younger brother Chase, representing Chadron High School, took second place in just his rookie season of competing in the event. 

Garrett Glines, also from Chadron, came home with a 4th place finish in reined cow horse.

Cadell also took 2nd place in cutting, while Colter Meeks of Hay Springs, in his first year of rodeo, took 4th place. 

Ashley Hunter from Sioux County High School ran both the barrels and completed her break away roping with a fast 4.99 second run. First year rodeo competitor Hannah Hoos made a respectable run in break away roping.

Haylee Wild who is also in her rookie year, represented Chadron by traveling to

Valentine and competed in pole bending, barrel racing, ladies breakaway roping and goat tying. 

All of these rodeo athletes will compete in their regionals this weekend for a chance at state competition.
