LINCOLN, Neb. -- Lincoln Police say a man is behind bars after assaulting and threatening his neighbors with a knife.

Lincoln Police say they were called early Tuesday morning when the victim reported he and his girlfriend heard a neighbor yelling from another apartment along Trenridge Way.

Police say the suspect, 36-year-old Calvin Smith, was mad about animals causing noise.

Authorities say Smith then pulled out a knife and put the victim in a chokehold.

The victim was able to free himself and walk away.

Smith was arrested for several charges including 3rd-degree assault.
