Sidney Rallies in the 7th for First Win at Bridgeport
Sam Hashman hit a one-out single in the top of the seventh inning scoring Reid Fiscus from second base to give Sidney the lead, then closed out the bottom of the inning on the mound to secure the Sidney Seniors their first win of the season.

BRIDGEPORT - Sam Hashman hit a one-out single in the top of the seventh inning scoring Reid Fiscus from second base to give Sidney the lead, then closed out the bottom of the inning on the mound to secure the Sidney Seniors their first win of the season, 6-5 over Bridgeport. On the night, Hashman had 3 of Sidney’s 6 hits in 4 at bats.
Bridgeport got off to a great start to begin the ball game. Pitcher Jacob Walleson threw only eight pitches to set Sidney down in the top of the first inning. The Bombers scored a pair of runs on two hits in the home half of the first to take a 2-0 after one inning of play.
Sidney responded with a pair of runs of their own in the top of the second. Jakob Meyer led off the inning with double to center, stole third, and scored Sidney’s first run two batters later on an error by Walleson. Sidney tied the game when Jonathon Meza was hit by a pitch, then stole second and scored when Ty Stettner reached on an error by the Bombers center fielder.
Bridgeport regained the lead in second when Austin Lulf walked N. Billy to lead off the inning. Billy stole second and was driven in on an error by short stop Reid Fiscus on a hard-hit ground ball by E. Eckhardt.
Sidney evened the game at 3-3 in the third inning, and then took a 5-3 lead in the fourth by scoring a pair of unearned runs.
Bridgeport tied the game again in the home half of the fifth on an RBI double by Jacob Walleson and a wild pitch. The game remained tied until Hashman’s RBI single in the seventh gave Sidney the win.
Sidney used four pitchers in the game. Austin Wolfe got the start going 3? innings giving up 2 earned runs on 3 hits, walking 2 and striking out 2. Jacob Walleson went the distance for Bridgeport yielding 6 runs on 6 hits while walking 3 and striking out 6.
Sidney was aggressive on the base paths, stealing 13 bases and only getting caught once. Neither team hit particularly well. Sidney went 6 of 27 (.222) at the plate while Bridgeport was 6 for 25 (.240).
