OMAHA- Although Adams Central defeated Falls City 7-0 in subdistrict B-4, the Tigers kept it close until the final inning.

Through roughly six innings of play, the Tigers trailed the Patriots 2-0 in what showed to be a battle between opposing pitchers. For Falls City, sophomore Jaxyn Strauss pitched through five innings before allowing five runs in the bottom of the sixth before being pulled.

The star of the night was Adams Central sophomore pitcher Creighton Jacobitz. Aside from pitching the full seven innings in shut-out fashion, the ace for the Patriots struck out 17 Tigers throughout the entirety of the ball game. Whether it being swinging or looking, Falls City couldn't find a way to get on base more than twice.

The game was scoreless through the first two innings with one hit apiece in total. The bottom of the third was when the Patriots started to string some offense together. Senior leadoff batter Macrae Huyser reached on base with an infield single. Two batters later, freshman Jayden Techmeier moved Huyser over to third base with a single of his own before junior right fielder Tyson Lebar brought home the first run of the afternoon.

Another two batters later, junior Isaac Meyer hit in the second run of the game, making it 2-0 Adams Central.

That is where the game would stay until the bottom of the sixth inning. Back to back errors form Falls City put Adams Central right back into scoring position. The Patriots tacked on another five runs in the sixth, putting the damage at a total of seven runs.

Falls City's offense couldn't keep up with Jacobitz pitching, nor the bats of Adams Central, and the Tigers were defeated 7-0 in Omaha.

Senor Stephen Acton and junior Carson Bredemeier were the only Tigers to get a hit. The Tigers finish the season at 3-14.

Adams Central moves onto the next round of district play and will face two-seeded Bennington in Omaha tonight.
