CLAY CENTER, Neb. -- All occupants of a house in south central Nebraska were able to get out safely after a fire broke out inside their home early Monday morning.

An individual had been walking in the neighborhood and noticed the house in Clay Center was on fire when he called 911 and went up to the home to assist getting the homeowners out safely.

A 74-year-old man and woman owned the home and were inside with their 18-year-old grandson at the time of the fire. Two dogs were also inside the home and able to get out unharmed.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. The house took heavy smoke and water damage and the east side of the home was heavily damaged.
