(Peru, Neb.) – After the opening day of the College of St. Mary/Midland Spring Invitational, the Peru State golf team found themselves trailing the field in fifth place.
 
The Invite was held Tuesday on the Fremont Golf Club course and will be in Omaha on Wednesday.

The College of St. Mary led after the first day with a team score of 366 – 18 strokes ahead of the second-place Doane team which finished with a team score of 384.
 
Midland was third with a 418 while Nebraska Wesleyan was fourth with a 419. Peru State was fifth with a 446 total.
 
Taylor Finke (Battle Creek) was sitting in a tie for sixth with a score of 95 – ten strokes off the lead.
 
Gretchen Tharp (Rock Port, Mo.) was 20th with a score of 110 while Allison Tichy (Bellevue) was 22nd with a score of 117.
 
Brooklyn Brenneis (Tekamah) was 28th after the first day with a score of 124 while Kayla Myers (Sidney, Iowa) was 31st with a 140.
 
Upcoming Meets
 
The tournament will conclude today in Omaha.
 
Peru State's final tournament of the year will be April 26 and 27 when they take part in the Heart of America Athletic Conference (Heart) Championship in Raymore, Mo.
