Alliance Golfers Win Sidney Invite

With winds blowing at 30 miles per hour, and gusting to 45, the Alliance Boys Golf Team garnered three of the top four places to run away with the team title at the Sidney Invitational Golf Tournament at Hillside Golf Course on Thursday.

Sidney - With winds blowing at 30 miles per hour, and gusting to 45, the Alliance Boys Golf Team garnered three of the top four places to run away with the team title at the Sidney Invitational Golf Tournament at Hillside Golf Course on Thursday. Alliance finished with a team total of 339, 19 strokes better than second place Gothenburg’s 358. Scottsbluff was one shot back at 359. Sidney struggled on their home course, finishing in seventh with a 412 team total.

Ogallala’s Caleb Castillo won a scorecard playoff over Crayten Cyza of Alliance for Individual honors. Both golfers finished with an 82. Alliance’s Tristen and Taytom Timbers each finished one shot back with 83s to finish third and fourth.

Sidney’s young team did not have a golfer finish in the top 10. Sophomore John Beier was low on the varsity with a 93. Trey Douglas shot 104 as did Wyatt Heckenlively. Jaeden Dillehay finished at 111 while Cole Hanley carded a 117. Sidney’s low score of the tournament came in the Junior Varsity division when Freshman Logan Johnson carded a 92.

Sidney’s next outing will be next Tuesday at the Mitchell Invitational Golf Tournament.
