(Peru, Neb.) – On March 28, the Bobcats won game one 14-7, and then dropped the second game 4-1 with Heart of America Athletic Conference (Heart) North Divisional opponent Culver-Stockton in Canton, Mo.
 
Culver-Stockton improved to 8-17 overall and 4-8 in the Heart North. Peru State is now 9-15-1 overall and 6-4 in the Heart North.
 
Game One
 
In the top of first Hector Torres (Gurabo, P.R.) reached on a fielding error. After an out, Adam Cendajas (Chino Hills, Calif.) singled through the left side as Torres advanced to second. Manual Caballero (Dolega, Panama) singled through the left side bringing Torres home. As the top of the first ended, the Bobcats led 1-0.

Culver-Stockton would take the lead in the bottom of the second with a score of 2-1 heading into the top of the third.
 
The defense on both stepped up giving up no runs until the Bobcats went to the plate in the top of the fourth. Jesus Tavarez(Santo Domingo, D.R.) singled down the infield line and the next batter Xavier Wright (Calumet City, Ill.) was walked as the base runner would advance. Jackson Tingwald (Ralston) hit a sac bunt with the base runners advancing. After Diego Rivera(Carolina, P.R.) got walked, the bases were loaded. Torres also was walked as everyone would advance bringing a run in to score. Luis Landaeta (Porlamar, Venezuela) singled to right field as a run would come in.  The next at bat, Culver would get a double play to end the inning. Peru State would now lead 3-2.
 
In the bottom of the fourth Culver-Stockton would tie the game back up with one run.
 
In the top of the fifth the Bobcat offense would come alive. Caballero started the inning off with a double to left center. Jeremy Santiago (Ponce, P.R.) entered the game to pinch run for Caballero. Jose Solis (Los Santos, Panama) singled to right center bringing in run to score to start the inning off strong. Victor Figueroa (Caguas, P.R.) enter to pinch run for Solis. Tavarez singled on a bunt. After a sac bunt Tingwald doubled to left field bring in two runs. Tingwald would advance to third on a wild pitch. Josue Francisco (San Cristobal, D.R.) entered to pinch hit. Francisco grounded out to pitcher's mound bringing in a run to score. Torres doubled to left center. Landaeta and Cendajas both hit by a pitch. Casey Steffens (Omaha) entered to pinch run for Cendajas. Caballero pinch hit for Santiago and Caballero was hit by a pitch as the base runners would advance bring in a run to score. After a Bobcat player grounded out, C-SC was finally able to end the inning but not after Peru State would put up six runs to lead 9-2.
 
Culver-Stockton would get a little closer as they would get two runs.
 
In the top of the sixth the Bobcat offense would strike again. Tavarez singled to left field and Wright was walked. Tavarez stole third. Tingwald singled through the left side bringing in Tavarez to score. Rivera also singled through the left side as the base runners would advance. Joseph Vargas (Juan Diaz, P.R.) came in to pinch run for Rivera. Landaeta singled to center field as the base runners advanced. After an out, Caballero singled to center field as two runners would come in to score. A Bobcat player popped up to end the inning. After the top of the sixth Peru State would extend their lead to 14-4.
 
C-SC would gain two runs in the bottom of the sixth and one run in the bottom of the seventh but was unable to catch Peru State.
 
Peru State scored their 14 runs on 16 hits and had four miscues. The Wildcats scored their seven runs on 14 hits and had two errors.
 
Caballero and Tavarez led the team with three hits. Landaeta, Cendejas, Rivera each had two hits in the game.
 
Caballero finished with four RBIs while Tingwald added three RBIs. Landaeta had two RBIs. Hector, Solis, Rivera, and Francisco each had one in the game.
 
Sebastian Rodriguez (Cayey, P.R.) pitched five innings and allowed seven hits and five runs. Three of them were earned. Rodriguez earned the win. Daniel Castillo(Barranquilla, Columbia) pitched two innings and allowed seven hits and two runs - one of which was earned.

After no runs for Culver-Stockton, the Bobcats struck in the top of the second. Caballero singled to right field. Figueroa came in to pinch run for Caballero. On a ground out, the base runner would advance in scoring position. Tavarez reached base on a fielder's choice as Figueroa advanced to third. Wright singled to third base to bring in the lone run for the Bobcats. Peru State took the lead 1-0.
 
The C-SC offense hit in the bottom of the sixth inning as they were able to score four runs on four hits to take the lead 4-1 and the game.
 
Culver-Stockton scored their four runs on five hits and did not commit any errors. Peru State scored their lone run on six hits and committed one error.
 
Caballero led the team with two hits.
 
Wright had the lone RBI.
 
Caballero pitched six innings and allowed five hits and four runs.  All of them were earned.  Caballero struck out two Culver-Stockton batters.

Upcoming Games
On March 30 the baseball team will have a non-conference game versus Briar Cliff University in Sioux City, Iowa, for a double header starting at 1 p.m. The Chargers are currently 20-5 on the year.

On April 2 and 3 the baseball team will be back in conference play as they take on conference foe Grand View University in Des Moines, Iowa. Both of the days are double headers starting at 1 p.m. The Vikings are currently 4-19 overall and 1-9 in the Heart.
