SIDNEY, NE — Several residents of Sidney and Cheyenne County were in a giving mood on St. Patrick's Day.
As part of KSID's Saint Paddy's Day Party, the community raised over $1,500 the Night Of Hope, a non-profit that provides financial assistance to cancer patients.
Most of the donations came during a free-will donation breakfast hosted at The Rock Sports Bar and Grill Wednesday morning. Some also donated when they came into the restaurant for lunch.
Night of Hope board president Brenda Noel says she's thankful for the community's support.
"It's absolutely amazing," she said. "It's a great kickoff to our season this year. We weren't able to hold our walk last year because of COVID so this $1,500 plus is going to be a good starting fund for us."
The Night of Hope's annual Walk for Cancer will make a return in 2021. Noel says it will be held on Friday, August 13, in Sidney's Legion Park.
The KSID Saint Paddy's Day Party continues until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at The Rock Sports Bar and Grill in Sidney.
