LINCOLN - Bellevue West made free throws down the stretch and held off Creighton Prep 95-94 in a triple-overtime thriller at Pinnacle Bank Arena.

The victory puts the defending-champion Thunderbirds (24-2) in the Class A State Championship game against Millard North. Creighton Prep's season ends at 23-3.

The game set a record for most points scored in a state tournament game, eclipsing Bellevue West's 97-89 2OT win over Lincoln Northeast in 1999.

The T-Birds led by four at halftime but the Jr. Jays took control early in the second half to lead 47-43 entering the fourth quarter. Creighton Prep led 67-60 with 50 seconds left before Chucky Hepburn drilled a three to spark a ferocious Bellevue West rally. The teams traded big shots in each overtime period before the T-Birds pulled ahead and sank their free throws to close out the game.
