(Peru, Neb.) – When you bowl with one less person than you are supposed to have for a team, the final scores will look completely out-of-whack if it is not explained.

That was the case for the Peru State women's bowling team on Saturday as they competed in the Kohawk Invite hosted by Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Unfortunately for the Bobcats, that will be the case the rest of the season as one of the bowlers has transitioned to playing for the softball team.

However, there were a couple of highlights during the day for Peru State. After bowling three individual games, the Bobcats bowled 12 Baker games. During the Baker format, the 'Cats had to give up the first and sixth frames. Even with that scenario, Peru State did bowl better games than a couple other teams during the Baker-style competition. In one of the games, the bowlers each rolled a strike for four in a row and had one game where every frame was a fill other than the zero frames.

Mount Mercy (Iowa) won the tournament as they had a total pin score of 5,509 easily outdistancing the second place Grand View (Iowa) team which had a pin total of 5,106.

Other placings included: third – St. Ambrose (Iowa) – 5,083; fourth – Viterbo (Wisc.) – 5,011; fifth – Iowa Central CC – 4,999; sixth – Clarke (Iowa) – 4,859; seventh – Hawkeye CC – 4,822; eighth – Waldorf (Iowa) – 4,712; ninth – Morningside (Iowa) – 4,682; tenth – Hastings – 4,629; 11th – Iowa Western CC – 4,593; 12th – Coe – 4,176; and 13th – Peru State – 3,060.

Kassidy Haberman (Sioux Falls, S.D.) led Peru State by finishing 46th out of 104 bowlers with a three-game total of 519. Haberman had games of 169, 192, and 158.

McKinley Cross (Buhler, Kan.) finished 59th with a 476 in three games. Cross rolled games of 148, 194, and 134.

Finishing 81st was Emily Meyer (Sabetha). Meyer had a three-game total of 335 with games of 104, 109, and 122.

Alena Montoya (Lakewood, Colo.) was 84th with a total of 328. After having a challenging first two games of 91 and 86, Montoya came back with a 151 in her third game.
