Peru State Men's Bowling 15th in Kohawk Invite

For the first time all season and after being close several times, the Peru State men's bowling team were able to finish ahead a team in a tournament.

(Peru, Neb.) – For the first time all season and after being close several times, the Peru State men's bowling team were able to finish ahead a team in a tournament. And even better, they topped an NCAA Division I team – the University of Northern Iowa.
 
The Bobcats participated in the Kohawk Invite hosted by Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on Saturday.
 
St. Ambrose (Iowa) won the team standings heading into the Baker format with a total pin count of 5,867. The other team standings went as follows: second – Wisconsin-Whitewater – 5,572; third – Hastings – 5,467; fourth – Mount Mercy (Iowa) – 5,446, fifth – Iowa Central CC – 5,427; sixth – Clarke (Iowa) – 5,272; seventh – Waldorf (Iowa) – 5,266; eighth – Hawkeye CC (Iowa) – 5,150; ninth – Iowa Western CC – 5,049; tenth – Grand View (Iowa) – 5,005; 11th – Coe – 4,997; 12th – Morningside (Iowa) – 4,922; 13th – Viterbo (Wisc.) – 4,862; 14th – Upper Iowa – 4,684; 15th – Peru State – 4,207; and 16th – North Iowa – 4,172.


 
The teams rolled three individual games and then 12 Baker-style games.
 
Peru State was led by Michael Anderson (Cairo) who finished 96th out of 166 bowlers. Anderson had games of 189, 168, and 123 for a total of 480. Gavin Maas (Shenandoah, Iowa) was 100th with a total of 465. Maas had games of 166, 134, and 165.
 
Alex Chmelka (Lincoln) finished 104th with a total of 449. Chmelka rolled games of 130, 130, and 189. Austin Guhde-Egger (Auburn) bowled two games of 164 and 131 for a total of 295 and finished 128th. For Guhde-Egger, his 164 was a season-high.
 
Mason Clobes (Seward) bowled two games of 92 and then came back with a 186 for a two-game total of 278 which placed him 132ndAlexxander Uecker (Hastings) was 13th with two games of 139 and 113 for a total of 252.
 
Upcoming Tournaments
  

Peru State will be competing next weekend in the Heart of America Athletic Conference (Heart) Championship next weekend in Keokuk, Iowa, at the Arrowhead Bowl. Culver-Stockton (Mo.) is hosting the championship.
 
After a two-week break, the Bobcats will be back in action in the Leatherneck Classic in Davenport, Iowa.
