Weidner sparks 4th-quarter run, Humphrey St. Francis wins D-2 title
LINCOLN - Humphrey St. Francis trailed by two points with under six minutes left before closing the game on a 14-3 run to beat Falls City Sacred Heart for the Class D-2 championship.
The Flyers' (25-0) full-court pressure defense was the difference maker in the win. Humphrey St. Francis outscored Falls City Sacred Heart (26-3) 21-4 in points off of turnovers.
Future Husker Allison Weidner led all scorers with 21 points and notched a game-high five steals.
The championship is the fourth in program history and the first since 2007.
