Torrington punches ticket to Wyoming 3A State Tournament

The Torrington girls basketball team will be packing their bags for Casper and the Wyoming 3A State Tournament thanks to a 2-0 finish at the Southeast Quad Regionals on Thursday.

TORRINGTON, Wyo. (KNEP) - The Torrington girls basketball team will be packing their bags for Casper and the Wyoming 3A State Tournament thanks to a 2-0 finish at the Southeast Quad Regionals on Thursday.

Lady Blazers clinched a state berth thanks to a 57-43 win over Rawlings in round one. They followed the win up with a 48-35 victory over Wheatland to move into the East Regional Finals.

Torrington will take on Douglas Saturday in Cheyenne with the winner earning the East Regional title and a top seed at the state tournament, while the loser will become a two seed at state. Newcastle and Wheatland will play for the three and four seeds at state on Saturday.

The Torrington boys had their season come to an end with a 71-40 first round loss to Rawlins at the Southeast Quad Regionals.

The 2021 Wyoming 3A State Basketball Tournament set for March 10-13 in Casper.
