LINCOLN, Neb. - After a one-year hiatus, Delta flights will be returning to the Lincoln Airport in May.

The airport announced in May of 2020 that it would be temporarily discontinuing Delta flights, at least until the end of September of last year. That temporary halt continued into 2021, leaving United as the only flight option in and out of Nebraska's capital.

Airport officials announced via Twitter on Tuesday that booking for Delta flights to and from Minneapolis has resumed. While customers can now book Delta flights to and from the airport, the routes won't begin until May 2021, at which point there will be two flights per day.

The airport received a $5.6 million grant to aid with the pandemic-related slowdown, which had at one point brought passenger flow to fewer than 10 per day in Lincoln.
