As expected, Nebraska Republicans today gave Senator Ben Sasse a political slap-down.

The party’s State Central Committee voted to rebuke Sasse for his constant criticism of former President Donald Trump.

According to the final resolution, the party expressed its "deep disappointment and sadness" with Sasse.

Earlier this month News Channel Nebraska first reported that the Hitchcock County GOP was upset with Sasse, a move that jump-started a statewide push against him, despite his re-election just four month earlier.

The rebuke goes on to call for an "immediate re-adjustment" by Sasse, so that he represents the people of Nebraska in Washington and not the other way around.

In the past several weeks leading up to today’s vote, Sasse has made it clear that when it comes to his actions regarding Trump, he speaks and votes his conscience.

Sasse also likes to remind his Republican critics that last November he received more votes in Nebraska than Trump.

Ryan Hamilton, the Executive Director of the Nebraska Republican Party, tells NCN the rebuke was handed down by a simple voice vote.
