Chadron closes season with loss to Mitchell

The Chadron High boys basketball team saw their season come to an end on Tuesday night with a 48-34 loss to Mitchell in the C1-12 sub-district semifinals.

The loss ends Chadron’s season at 11-11, their first winning season since 2014-15. It also marks the fifth straight postseason that Mitchell has eliminated Chadron.

The Cardinals led most of the first quarter, but a Mitchell basket just before the end of the period gave the Tigers the 15-14 lead.

From the start of the second quarter on Mitchell maintained control and never relinquished the lead.

Chadron kept the margin at six at the half 28-22, but the Cards could only produce twelve second half points on three made shots to see Mitchell slowly pull away.

Collin Brennan had a career high 16 points for Chadron.

Mitchell advances to play Ogallala on Thursday night in Ogallala. The Indians defeated Gordon-Rushville in the other semifinal 59-36.
