Postseason basketball continues for panhandle teams this week
Boys basketball teams across the state begin their 2021 postseason journeys while many girls basketball teams will battle to determine who heads to state this week.

Sub-district play for boys basketball starts Monday for Classes B through D2 in the Cornhusker state.
In the B-8 sub-district, the Class B #8 Alliance Bulldogs earned the top-seed and will host the contests. Alliance faces the Gering Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
The Sidney Red Raiders are the third seed in the B-8 sub-district. They will face (RV)* Scottsbluff at 7:00 p.m. Monday. The Sidney contest will be broadcast on KSID 1340 AM and 95.7 FM The Fort.
The winner's of those games will go on to face each other in a sub-district final Tuesday at 6:00 p.m.
Class C1 #10 Ogallala is the top-seed in the C1-12 boys sub-district and will play the winner of Gordon-Rushville and Valentine, who play Monday in Cody, Neb., on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m.
Chadron will take on Mitchell in the other semifinal at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The C1-12 sub-district final will be played at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The C1-12 sub-district will be played at Prairie View School in Ogallala.
Class C2 #3 Bridgeport earned the top-seed in the C2-12 sub-district. They host Kimball on Tuesday at 5:00 p.m. This game will be available on KSID 98.7 Sky FM.
Bayard is the two-seed in the C2-12 sub-district. The Tigers will face Hemingford in the other semifinal contest at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. The winners will advance to face one another at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
Perkins County will host the D1-12 boys sub-district in Grant, Neb. They will face Garden County in a semifinal on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. Leyton will play Morrill at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday in the other semifinal.
The D1-12 sub-district semifinal is set for Thursday at 6:00 p.m.
Despite being the top-seed in the D2-11 sub-district, the Potter-Dix Coyotes (RV) will not host. The games will be played at South Platte High School in Big Springs, Neb. The top-seeded Coyotes face Minatare at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. In the other semifinal, host school South Platte takes on Creek Valley at 6:30 p.m.
The winners will face one another in a sub-district final on Thursday at 5:00 p.m.
In girls basketball, several panhandle teams will play in district finals with spots at the NSAA girls state basketball tournament on the line. One panhandle team has already clinched a spot in the tourney.
Class B #7 Scottsbluff defeated Elkhorn 49-37 in the Class B-6 district final on Saturday, Feb. 20, to advance.
The other district finals in girls basketball will be played on Friday, Feb. 26. In Class C1, the #9 Sidney Lady Raiders take on #10 Auburn at 5:00 p.m. MST. The game will be played at Kearney High School. This contest will be carried on KSID 1340 AM and 95.7 FM The Fort.
#6 Bridgeport will feature in the C2-5 district final as the Lady Bulldogs take on #9 Clarkson/Leigh at 6:30 p.m. MST in Lexington. You can listen to this game on KSID 98.7 Sky FM.
#7 South Platte has made a district final in Class D1, despite not winning its sub-district. The Lady Knights face #6 Shelton at 4:00 p.m. MST at Brady High School.
Garden County has a tall task in Class D2. The Lady Eagles will face Class D2 #1 Humphrey St. Francis at 6:00 p.m. MST at Axtell High School.
Sioux County (RV) and #4 Mullen have also made district finals in Class D2. Mullen faces Loomis at 6:15 p.m. MST at Brady High School while Sioux County will take on Wynot at 5:00 p.m. MST in Valentine.
