ALBION -- Barrel racers arrived at the Boone County Agriculture and Education Center Saturday with a range of emotions and goals.
The Barrel Racing series organized by rodeo clown Todd Flinn had been rescheduled previously due to the freezing temperatures. But, after the arena added heaters -- the series can now continue.
"The series is about having fun," Flinn said, "It's special for me as a clown to offer that to people."
Some came to showcase the beginning of their learning, as kids as young as six competed.
Others, veterans, were returning after having been injured and out of the game for years.
All ages took a moment during Saturday's events to remember one fallen comrade as his horse was silently led around the arena with an empty saddle.
But on a happier note, a gender reveal for one rider was celebrated during the day too.
The competitions continue Sunday.
