OMAHA, Neb. -- An historic apartment building in Omaha is in ruins after a fire.
First calls of the fire came in around 2:00 p.m. Monday at the Cornish Apartments in Omaha. Fire crews discovered the fire on the basement level, which had started after a resident tried to defrost frozen pipes using a propane fueled torch.
The torch was left unattended and was too close to combustible items, which then ignited. Multiple occupants were displaced due to the fire, but no injuries have been reported.
Multiple fire units were rotated onto the scene due to the inclement weather.
