Bitter cold expected to envelop Nebraska this weekend

A winter weather advisory is in effect for large chunks of Nebraska, with portions affected until midday Monday.
Sheridan, Cherry, Brown, Rock, Garden, Grant, Hooker, Thomas, Blaine, Loup, Garfield, Arthur, McPherson, Logan, Custer, Keith and Lincoln Counties are all under a winter weather advisory until Monday at noon CST/11:00 a.m. MST. The affected counties could receive 2 to 4 inches of snow on Friday, with additional light snow over the weekend for a potential total accumulation of 4 to 7 inches. Wind chills could get as low as 35 below zero over the weekend.
Valley, Greeley, Sherman and Howard Counties are also under a winter weather advisory, but that is due to expire at 6 a.m. CST Saturday. A total of 3 to 4 inches of snow is expected in the area, with some locations potentially going beyond that. Wind chills could reach 20 below zero in the affected counties.
Meanwhile, Keya Paha, Boyd, Holt, Wheeler, Deuel, Perkins, Chase, Hayes, Frontier, Dawes, Box Butte, Scotts Bluff, Banner, Morrill, Cheyenne and Sioux Counties are under a wind chill advisory until midday Monday, due to wind chills dipping to as low as 30 below zero. These areas could also receive 1 to 3 inches of snow.
The rest of the state is officially in a hazardous winter outlook, also with the possibility of 1 to 3 inches of snow and wind chills ranging from 20 below zero to 30 below zero over the next four to five days.
