SIDNEY, NE — If you see smoke coming from the Sidney city landfill this week, there's no need to be alarmed.

According to city manager David Scott, the landfill will be conducting a controlled burn on Thursday, Feb. 11 and Friday, Feb. 12. The landfill will be burning tree limbs and branches.

At Tuesday night's city council meeting, council members approved a measure allowing the landfill to perform a controlled burn as long as they received a burn permit from the Sidney Fire Department.

Anyone with any questions should call the landfill at 308-254-6071.
