(Peru, Neb.) – While competing in their largest tournament of the season, the Peru State women's bowling team finished 15^th while participating in the Mid States Championships held in Wichita, Kan., last weekend.

The tournament field consisted of teams from all levels of the NCAA, NAIA, and NJCAA. The teams bowled five games on Saturday and then had 16 Baker games on Sunday.

Wichita State – an NCAA Division 1 team won the championship with an overall total pins of 8,125. Oklahoma Christian was second with a 7,592 total.

Other placings with the final pin total were: third – Baker (Kan.) – 7,455; fourth – Midland – 7,413; fifth – West Texas A&M – 7,385; sixth – Newman (Kan.) – 7,369; seventh – Ottawa (Kan.) – 7,363; eighth – St. Ambrose (Iowa) – 7,354; ninth – Iowa Central Community College – 7,149; tenth – Iowa Western Community College – 7,149; 11^th – Kansas Wesleyan – 7,082; 12^th – Barton (Kan.) Community College – 6,868; 13^th – Lincoln (Mo.) – 6,635, 14^th – Kansas – 5,526; and 15^th – Peru State – 5,495.

The Bobcats had a higher pin total than the Jayhawks after their individual games, but fell short after the Baker rounds.

Kassidy Haberman (Sioux Falls, S.D.) again led the Peru State women's team. In the individual competition, Haberman finished 47^th out of 127 bowlers with a final total of 824 after five games. Haberman had games of 173, 162, 135, 189, and 165.

McKinley Cross (Buhler, Kan.) finished 68^th with a total of 694. Cross had games of 121, 129, 143, 158, and 143.

Alena Montoya (Lakewood, Colo.) had her best performance of the season as she was just ten pins behind Cross and finished 72^nd. Montoya bowled games of 127, 117, 160, 150, and 130 for a total of 684.

Alyiah Franco (Syracuse, Utah) finished 82^nd with a total of 646. Franco had games of 101, 117, 143, 151, and 134.

Emily Meyer (Sabetha, Kan.) was Peru State fifth bowler and finished 93^rd with a total of 555. Meyer bowled games of 112, 104, 99, 115, and 125.

Upcoming Competitions

Peru State will be competing in a couple of one-day events. They will be in Indianapolis, Ind., on Feb. 20 to compete in the Hoosier Classic at the Royal Pin – Expo facility.

The following weekend the Bobcats will be in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, competing in the Kohawk Invitational in the May City Bowl on Feb. 27.
