Seventeen Nebraska Walmart locations are part of the U.S. Federal Retail Pharmacy Program. Over 1,000 Walmart stores are part of the program, which will reach the chain on Friday.

Though the locations are scattered throughout Nebraska geographically, none are in Lincoln or Omaha. Walmart says location decisions were made with an “emphasis on locations that reach customers in underserved communities with limited access to health care.” Omaha and Lincoln have lagged behind the rest of the state in the earliest phases of vaccine distribution.

The vaccines will fall in line with priority groups within the counties where they are being distributed. Patrons cannot jump ahead of state and county restrictions. This is just another outlet to get a vaccine when it is your turn to do so. Those looking to do so can sign up for an appointment, but a Walmart account is required.
