STANTON --  Teens in northeast Nebraska are facing charges for selling vapes to children.

The parent of a 12-year-old at Stanton Middle School called the Stanton Sheriff's office Sunday. The parent reported they found their child with vapes. According to the parent, the child bought the vapes from teens at Stanton High School which is connected to the middle school building.

Sheriff Mike Unger then went to the high school where they arrested two male 17-year-olds. Deputies also found more than 400 vape paraphernalia at the suspects' homes.

The two are not in custody because they are minors. They are facing charges which could put them in prison for up to one year.

Unger said there is one more teen they are looking to charge, who would have bought the vapes in bulk.

Stanton had other tobacco arrests in the past months. Unger believes the solution is more education around drugs.
