An employee with the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services is being charged with two felony offenses.

The NDCS said Monday that 24-year-old Xavier Palomares has been arrested for unauthorized communication with a prisoner and the manufacture, distribution, or delivery of a controlled substance.

Palomares is a corporal at the Diagnostic and Evaluation Center, and has been employed by the NDCS since March 2020. Palomares has resigned his position with the agency and was booked into the Lancaster County jail.
