One person hospitalized after Norfolk crash Thursday

A Thursday morning accident sent one person to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

NORFOLK, Neb. -- A Thursday morning accident sent one person to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The accident happened just before 11:00 a.m. near the intersection of 13th Street and Elm Avenue in Norfolk. Police arrived on scene to find a jackknifed semi truck and a blue Ford van that had left the roadway and ended up on a sidewalk.

One of the two occupants of the van was transported to the hospital after being extricated from the vehicle using the Jaws of Life, according to Norfolk Police Cpl. Josh Bauermeister. The van was considered a total loss.

The lone occupant of the semi was uninjured.
