(Peru, Neb.) – The Peru State women's bowling team competed short-handed due to the coronavirus this past weekend in its first tournament of the second semester. The Bobcats competed in the Clarke Invitational in Dubuque, Iowa.

In bowling tournaments, teams are to be made up of five individuals. However, if someone is not available, the teams just counts the totals of those competing. Each individual bowled four games on Saturday and then the teams had 12 Baker games on Sunday.

Mount Mercy (Iowa) won the team title with an overall total of 5,911 pins as they nudged out Grand View (Iowa) which finished with 5,866 pins. The other placings included third – Clarke (Iowa) – 5,679, fourth – Iowa Central CC – 5,435, fifth – Hawkeye CC – 5,373, sixth – Coe (Iowa) – 5,332, and seventh – Peru State – 3,596.

Individually, Kassidy Haberman (Sioux Falls, S.D.) led the Bobcats as she placed 19^th out of 59 bowlers. Haberman rolled games of 202, 163, 110, and 199 for a 674 total averaging 168.5 per game.

McKinley Cross (Buhler, Kan.) was 32^nd with a total of 564. Cross had games of 169, 170, 106, and 119.

Alyiah Franco (Syracuse, Utah) and Emily Meyer (Sabetha, Kan.) finished 36^th and 37^th respectively.

Franco had a 494 four-game series as she bowled games of 103, 153, 133, and 105.

Meyer, competing collegiately for the first time, rolled games of 115, 155, 115, and 106 for a total of 491.

Upcoming Tournaments

Peru State was to have competed in the Hastings Baker Bash tournament this weekend, but unfortunately the entire women and men's teams are in quarantine due to contact tracing.

They plan to compete next Saturday and Sunday, February 6 and 7, in the Mid-State Championship at the North Rock Lanes in Wichita, Kan.
