NORFOLK — Hundreds turned out for a rally in northeast Nebraska Friday afternoon.

While the annual March for Life in Washington, D.C. was cancelled; Norfolk's residents found a way to express their voice still.

"We're marching to support all forms of life," said Sheryl Cahoy, director of stewardship at Norfolk Catholic High School. Cahoy and her school helped organize the walk from the school to Walgreen's and back.

Before the pandemic, students would usually go to Washington D.C. to be part of the national march. This year they switched gears.

The crowd numbered more than 500 students from Norfolk Catholic High School, Guardian Angels Central Catholic, Humphrey Saint Francis School, and Lindsey Holy Family School.

Adults took part as well. Glenda Hamling took off work to be a part of Friday's event, for example.

"We are standing for the right to life ... and to show there's a pro-life presence in the community," she said.

Cahoy asks that going forward, people continue to pray for all types of life.
