Vaccines Available to Veterans in Norfolk
The fight against COVID-19 continues. Next up to the plate: veterans.
NORFOLK -- The fight against COVID-19 continues. Next up to the plate -- those who already fought for our country before.
More than 600 veterans from Omaha, Lincoln and Norfolk were vaccinated Wednesday at the National Guard Armory. The Norfolk Veteran Affairs Clinic planned it with medical centers throughout the metro and northeast region.
Nurse manager Katie Rasmussen said it took a lot of work
Most we spoke to said they were excited and looking forward to a "herd immunity". Still, some were nervous.
"It's like [how I felt] in the service," said Tom Daust, a veteran, when asked how he feels.
Another veteran joked that they should distribute them like how they did in Vietnam, lining people up and going dangerously quickly.
Organizers hope to set a date for the second round of these special vaccinations as soon as possible.
