North Platte Area Children’s Museum reopens with new additions
NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - The North Platte Area Children’s Museum is open after it was forced to close for a second time in November due to the pandemic.
Museum officials say the same safety protocols that were put in place when it reopened in September will remain.
Children three years of age and older will have to wear a face mask, practice social distancing, and every station will be wiped down after each group is finished. Patrons will also notice a new climbing wall as well as a piano that was donated by the family of late Doctor Leland Lamberty.
“The focus of the Children’s Museum is for kids to learn and explore and maybe try something new that they haven’t experienced before,” said director MenDi McCuiston. “Maybe some kids would like the farm world because they don’t get to spend time on a farm or they don’t get to see what a doctor does, so we touch a little bit of educational along with having fun.”
McCuiston said the CARES Act helped the museum stay afloat during the eight months it was closed.
