Bridgeport Girls Advance to SPVA Semifinals

The Bridgeport Lady Bulldogs used a 19-3 third quarter, to blow open the game, for a 68-20 first round win at home over Sutherland on Tuesday in the South Platte Valley Conference tournament. Sophomore Ruthie Loomis-Gotl made 10 of her 14 shots from the field on the way to a game high 26 points to pace the Lady Bulldogs, while freshman Olivia Loomis-Gotl added 18 points. Bridgeport now moves into the semifinals at 8:00 p.m. CST on Friday at North Platte Community College against Chase County. The Longhorns defeated Kimball 64-18 to earn a spot in the semifinals.

Other first round games on Tuesday saw fourth-seeded Hershey handle Perkins County 61-34. The Panthers will now face top-seeded North Platte St. Pats in semifinal action at 6:30 p.m. CST on Friday.

Boys semifinal play in the SPVA tournament will resume on Thursday. Top-seeded Bridgeport squares off against fourth-seeded North Platte St. Pats at 6:30 p.m. CST. That will be followed by the number two seed Hershey Panthers, who drubbed Kimball 69-19 on Monday, taking on third-seeded Chase County. The Longhorns advanced with a 67-24 home win over Sutherland on Monday.
