At least 23 people arrested in the Wednesday riot. A DC Superior Court judge released them after they appeared in court to face charges. Those charges range from violating curfew set by Washington mayor Muriel Bowser to more serious charges like carrying a gun without a license and assault on a police officer.
All the defendants pleaded not guilty. Many of them were from states as far away as Oregon.
The judge ordered them not to return to Washington until their next court appearance on June 10th. Meanwhile, four other men became the first to face federal charges, also appearing in court on Thursday.
