Beatrice woman takes plea deal in burglary case

BEATRICE – A Beatrice woman will be sentenced March 3rd after pleading no contest to charges of 1st-degree criminal trespass and theft by receiving stolen property…both misdemeanors.
43-year-old Mindy Thomsen reached a plea agreement with prosecutors that resulted in dismissal of felony counts of possessing a stolen firearm and tampering with physical evidence. She initially had faced a felony burglary charge.
The case against her stemmed from a June 20th, 2019 residential burglary of a home that was vacant for several months….in the nine-hundred block of North 7th, in Beatrice. The owners are deceased, and their children reported several items missing from the home, including a slot machine with several coins in it…along with rolled nickels and quarters and several gold coins.
Thomsen was suspected of being one of five people who got into the home and stole several thousand dollars in coins and other items. Investigators and prosecutors also say she was aware of another burglary where weapons were stolen, and allegedly stored at her residence.
