NCPS Returning To Yellow Protocol
Nebraska City Public Schools will return to "Yellow" protocol starting January 5th, 2021

NEBRASKA CITY-Nebraska City Public Schools will return to "Yellow" protocol starting January 5th, 2021
NCPS states that they are excited to welcome back all students every day. The following is the release for the protocols taking effect for the 2nd semester.
We continue to monitor the situation closely and work directly with SEDHD and our local healthcare providers. We have all learned that a well thought out plan can change quickly, especially
in these uncertain times.
Thank you to everyone for their cooperation, understanding, and flexibility during this uncertain
school year. Covid 19 has impacted all of us. The diligence, commitment, and cooperation of
our students, teachers, staff, parents, families, and community has allowed Nebraska City
Public Schools to continue to operate. We have had numerous cases of Covid 19 amongst our
students and staff and even more quarantined. We continue to believe because of the protocols
put in place and our students and staff making a commitment to them, we have had minimal
transmission in the school setting.
With the information provided by SEDHD, local providers, and our previous and current
experience, we plan to begin the 2nd semester in “yellow.” A few changes will be made to the
yellow protocols; for example, Masks will be required for all staff and students. We will share
updated protocols in the near future.
The board of education has also approved a calendar adjustment for 2nd semester. Basically,
two Wednesday’s a month school will be dismissed early; 1:10, 1:15, 1:25, and 1:30. To
improve student success during these uncertain times, we have recognized our staff needs the
opportunity to collaborate, plan, and work together in planning for our students’ academic
activities. During this time, staff will also be available so we can increase communication with
students and their families.
