Authorities identify Gering woman as victim of December fire

GERING - A 73-year-old Gering woman was identified as the victim of a Dec. 17 house fire in the 1200 block of R Street. 

According to Scotts Bluff County Attorney Dave Eubanks, Marjorie McClure passed away from smoke inhalation. The blaze, which was caused by smoking materials, has been ruled an accident.

Gering Fire Chief Nathan Flowers said the department hasn't had a fatal fire in the community since the 1950s, the Star-Herald reported.
