Broncos travel to LA looking for season sweep over Chargers

Justin Herbert looks to set the record for most touchdowns thrown by a rookie quarterback when the Los Angeles Chargers host the Denver Broncos on Sunday.

Herbert and the Chargers have won two straight with both coming on the final play. The Broncos have dropped three of their last four.

Herbert could add to rookie marks when Chargers host Broncos

INGLEWOOD, Calif. (AP) — Justin Herbert is on the verge of one of the best statistical years by a rookie quarterback in NFL history.

Not bad for someone who didn’t know how much he was going to play at the beginning of season. The Los Angeles Chargers signal caller goes into Sunday’s game against the Denver Broncos already with the most 300-yard games by a rookie.

He has also tied Baker Mayfield’s 2018 mark of 27 touchdown passes.

Harris in unfamiliar situation facing Broncos for first time

COSTA MESA, Calif. (AP) — Chris Harris Jr. did everything during his nine seasons playing cornerback for the Denver Broncos.

Including winning a Super Bowl and being voted an All-Pro. After signing with the Los Angeles Chargers in free agency he will face the Broncos for the first time Sunday.

A foot injury prevented Harris from making his return to Denver in Week 8 when the Chargers (5-9) gave up a touchdown pass with no time remaining to lose 31-30 to the Broncos (5-9).

Chubb's comeback culminates with first Pro Bowl honor

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) — Bradley Chubb's comeback from a knee injury that sidelined him most of the 2019 season culminated with his first Pro Bowl berth this week.

And it came despite playing alongside a bevy of backups after season-ending injuries to Von Miller, Jurrell Casey and Mike Purcell and the month-long absence of Shelby Harris due to a COVID-19 infection.

Chubb is fourth in the NFL with 60 quarterback hits and hurries.

Chubb was tearful during a Zoom call with reporters this week after earning the Pro Bowl honor. He says the honor was special because of all the obstacles he's overcome in the last 15 months.
