KEARNEY-The Sterling Jets came into the Class D6 State Championship Game undefeated, and would face a fellow undefeated team in McCool Junction.

It was the Jets that would strike first in the early part of the 1st quarter with 9:15 to go.  Sam Boldt would find Derek Buss on a 30 yard pass for a touchdown, putting Sterling up 8-0 after the extra points. However, McCool Junction would answer quickly moving down the field and capping off the drive with a 2 yard touchdown run from Owen McDonald.

On Sterling's next offensive series, the Mustang's Kaeden Bristol would scoop and score on a fumble recovery of 49 yards, putting McCool Junction up 16-8.  From that point on there was no stopping the scoring production of Owen McDonald and company.

At the end of the night it was the Mustangs that would walk way with that zero loss season intact and State Championship in hand.  McCool Junction defeats Sterling by a final score of 70-20.   The Jets finish the season with a record of 10-1 and Class D6 State Runner Ups.
