Wayne bank opens new business center

WAYNE, NE -- A new business complex in northeast Nebraska is trying to get people to visit the bank.
After the demolition of its old building last year, the State Nebraska Bank and Trust in Wayne had to make a decision.
"Did we want to just merge in with our main bank which is Downtown on 2nd and Main," CEO Matthew Ley said. "Or did we want to continue to be here next to campus? We decided to make the investment and to go a little bigger and make a business center for other businesses to join us."
The new "SNBuilding" opened in November, after more than a year of construction.
Ley wanted the building to be more than just a bank, so he added a basketball and pickle-ball court.
The new business complex offers a lot of opportunities for the community, not just SNB clients.
"So even if they're not a customer of the bank," said Branch Manager Ashley Rewinkel. "And they're in the community and they want to shoot some hoops or come hangout, they can definitely come check us out."
The recreational part is something Ley encourages people to experience. He says the complex is meant to be an investment in the people who live there.
Ley also made sure he kept the construction local. He made it a priority to bring in area contractors as much as possible.
While the building undergoes finishing touches, the Campus Branch is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
