NORFOLK - Despite concerns of long lines and congestion at polling places, voting went off without a hitch across many locations in northeast Nebraska.

Officials say they are pleased with the turnout.

"I'm doing great," Madison County Election Judge Jeffrey Rub said. "It's fun to watch people come out to vote. We've had a very steady stream. Things are going well. Everybody's doing what they need to do, doing their civic duty to vote. I'm happy to see that."

It's not just the officials, voters are expressing their excitement to use their voice to be part of the process.

"Well, I'm feeling pretty good about voting," Norfolk voter Eileen Hoskinson said. "Hopefully the good Lord is watching over and puts the right man in there."

Polling locations in Norfolk are enforcing social distancing guidelines with tables and lines spaced apart. Officials say masks, hand sanitizer, and clean pens are being provided.

Polls are open until 8 p.m. tonight.
