Area volleyball teams entered postseason play yesterday with the start of subdistrict tournaments.

Fairbury fell to top seed Syracuse 3-0. The Lady Jeffs finish the season 7-23.

In the Class C-2 1 subdistrict, top seed Freeman swept Johnson County Central and #3 Wilber-Clatonia took down #2 Tri County in three sets. The Falcons and Wolverines play tonight at 6:00.

In the Class C-2 8 subdistrict, Fillmore Central dispatched of Sandy Creek but lost to top seed Thayer Central 3-0. The Titans face Superior tonight after the Wildcats survived a five-set affair with Sutton.

In Class D-1 1 subdistrict, Southern swept Pawnee City but lost to Humboldt-Table Rock-Steinauer 3-0. HTRS will face Johnson-Brock for the subdistrict title.

In Class D-1 7, top seed BDS swept Heartland and #3 Meridian won three sets to none over McCool Junction. The Eagles and Mustangs will meet tonight at 7:00.

Now to Class D-2 1 subdistrict play, #1 Diller-Odell didn't drop a set against Lewiston and #2 Falls City Sacred Heart won 3-0 over Sterling. That's a top five matchup in that game tonight.

In Class D-2 2, Friend won 3-1 over Parkview Christian before getting swept by top seed Exeter-Milligan. The Wolves will play the Longhorns of Dorchester High School for the subdistrict crown.

The 12 subdistrict winners and the four non-winners with the most wild card points will be matched up for the district finals on Saturday. The winners of those matches advance to State.
