SIDNEY, NE - With Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts new Directed Health Measure (DHM) taking effect Wednesday, Sidney Public Schools is making some changes regarding indoor event attendance.

Moving forward, each player, coach and student manager will be given four spots for spectators. The visiting team will be given three spots each. High school and middle school students will be allowed to attend as well.

From this, a list will be compiled of attendees allowed into the event. If you are not on the list or a Sidney High School or Sidney Middle School student, you will not be allowed into the event.

The change is being made to adhere the updated DHM that limits indoor gatherings to 50 percent of rated occupancy. It will be in effect for Sidney's volleyball match on Tuesday against Gering.

Sidney superintendent Jay Ehler says the steps are being taken to prioritize family and students as fans.

Students will be required to wear masks while in the student section. Those sitting in the student section also must eat any concessions in the commons area since it requires mask removal.

"We appreciate all our Red Raider fans," Ehler said in a statement. "We regret the need to take this step, but remain committed to following guidance and protecting our students and staff. We look forward to the day when these precautions are no longer needed."
