NORFOLK - A former "Voice of the Huskers" will once again be calling football for thousands of Nebraskans.

Jim Rose is joining News Channel Nebraska's team of sports announcers and will be featured calling play-by-play for two games this fall.

Rose, who called Nebraska football on the Husker Sports Network for six years, said he's excited to once again do what he loves.

“I’m thrilled to be a part of the NCN team. After I stepped away from the Husker broadcasts, my focus was to spend time with my kids’ sports and activities. Now they’re all grown up."

News Channel Nebraska's Director of Sports Content, Brandon Aksamit, said Rose's addition is a step in the right direction for the locally-owned television network.

"Jim has more than 25 years of experience calling major college and professional sports on TV and radio, so it's exciting to add an announcer of his caliber to our team. Jim reflects the quality that News Channel Nebraska strives for when serving our statewide audience of sports fans."

Rose will call his first game on News Channel Nebraska this Friday when Beatrice hosts Seward. Live coverage will begin at 6:45 PM (CDT).

“NCN is loaded with talented, creative young professionals whose passion for this craft is inspiring," Rose added. "It’ll be great fun and I hope entertaining for the audience. I appreciate Mike [Flood] and Brandon offering the chance to get back in the booth without having to travel to Waco, Texas!“

Rose will also call the network's broadcast of the highly anticipated St. Thomas Aquinas (Overland Park, KS) vs Omaha Westside game on Friday, Oct 16.
