SIDNEY, NE - The City of Sidney is recognizing an organization dedicated to helping veterans that turns a century old on Friday.
Sidney Mayor Roger Gallaway and the city council issued a resolution Friday to honor the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) organization.
The DAV was founded 100 years ago on September 25.
Former Cincinnati Judge Robert S. Marx founded the DAV in 1920 and it was chartered by an Act of Congress in 1932.
The program was originally named the Disabled American Veterans of the World War. It now has over 1 million members who work to champion veterans affairs, benefits and causes.
