SYRACUSE-The Syracuse Rocket Volleyball team, coming off of a 23-4 season in 2019 that ended in a district final loss to Battle Creek, traveled Yutan to take on a Chieftain team that is new to the Nebraska Capitol Conference.  The Rockets handed the Chieftains their first loss of the season in 3 straight sets, 25-22, 25-17 25-21.  

The Rockets were led in kills by Midland College commit Jessie Moss with 16.  Lindsey Moss added 11 kills along with freshman Delainey Cast adding 7.  They were led in assists by Kennedy Stanley with 38.  The Rockets were very strong at the net with 8 blocks.  
 
The Rockets then returned home to face conference rival Ft Calhoun in a dual on Thursday night and came away with a 3 set victory over a pesky Pioneer team, 25-22, 25-16, 25-18 to go 2-0 on the young season.  
 
The Rockets will next be in action on Saturday, Sept 5th in a Triangular with conference foes DC West and Ashland Greenwood.  DC West has a 4-1 record to start the season and Ashland Greenwood is 0-1 after losing a tough 4 set match against Class B #2 ranked Waverly.  First tip is scheduled for 9 AM at DC West High School in Valley Nebraska.
