BEATRICE – There is a new Clerk Magistrate in Gage County Court, in the First Judicial District.

Former court reporter Sherri Ullman, of Beatrice was sworn in Thursday. She takes over for longtime Clerk Magistrate Vicki Brolhorst, who retired in July.
"I'm going to try to do my very best to be a good clerk magistrate. I have big shoes to fill. Vicki was here for 47 years and did an astounding job. I'm just hoping I can be half as good as she was".

The oath was administered by Gage County Judge Steven Timm, with district judges, other clerk magistrates, justice personnel and friends looking on, in the county court room.

State Court Administrator Corey Steele says the position of Clerk Magistrate is an important one, in Nebraska… a face of the system as people go through the courts.  "Our clerk magistrates across the State of Nebraska do a phenomenal job of working with the public. They do the work behind the scenes, take all the filings...whether it be the attorneys or the citizens of the county. They make sure everything runs smoothly for the judge. They make the judges look good."

Judge Timm presented Ullman with a certificate of her appointment and a reception was held, afterward.

Ullman is a graduate of Lincoln Northeast High School and Southeast Community College. She has worked in the county court system for over 35 years, many of those as the court reporter for Judge Timm. Her husband, Dave works as a supervisor at Ratigan-Schottler Manufacturing in Beatrice. The couple have two adult children….Troy, who resides in Springfield, Missouri….and Carrie, who resides in Lincoln.
