LINCOLN — A southeast Nebraska native continues to move up the ranks in the state government.

Nebraska Department of Administrative Services (DAS) Director Jason Jackson recently announced the appointment of Kevin Workman as the new State Personnel Director.

The State Personnel Division provides centralized human resource services to state government including support for hiring, compensation, labor relations, training, and benefits administration.  By law, the division is responsible for the administration of the personnel rules and labor contracts that govern labor relations for approximately 15,000 teammates in state government.

“Kevin is a thoughtful leader that understands running government like a business starts with how we lead our people,” said Director Jackson.  “His blend of government and private sector experience will accelerate our progress in best practices like performance management and pay for performance.”

Workman, originally from Humboldt, NE, previously served as the Human Resources Director for the Nebraska State Patrol before coming to DAS in early 2018 where he served as Deputy Director of State Personnel and Director of Talent Acquisition.

“I’m excited with this new opportunity to lead State Personnel to elevated levels of customer service,” said Workman.  “I’m looking forward to leading the State Personnel team to continue our efforts in delivering effective, efficient, and customer-focused services to our customers.”

Workman assumed the State Personnel Director role on August 17, 2020.
