COLUMBUS - This Friday, Essential Personnel, Inc. will be co-hosting a job fair with Jackson Services in Columbus from 8 a.m. to noon on Friday.

“You need no experience to apply," said Jessica Slama, Columbus Branch Manager of Essential Personnel.  "We’ll just gather your base information for work history and contact information, and then have you basically walk through and make sure that job is going to be a good fit for the individual in question.”

Jackson Services is an industrial laundry business, washing uniforms, mats and linens for hospitals, bars and restaurants.

Human Resource Manager Phil Greig said they're looking for candidates for entry-level production work.

“We will give them a tour, show them what we actually do here,” Greig said.  “We’re hoping to give them an idea that the type of production work we have here is something they may want to do.”

He said benefits include health insurance, paid holidays and a company-matching 401(k).

Jackson Services said it did furlough five employees during the lockdown this past spring.  However, they said they hired them all back, and that they're looking to add seven to 15 more now.

“We’ve been growing for years," Greig said.  "We’re always on the lookout.  "It’s been difficult to find good people around Columbus that want to come and work.”

He said that's why they're working with Essential Personnel.  Before that, he said they tried Facebook and sending out fliers, but that they weren't getting the response they needed.

As for Essential Personnel, Slama said that's why they help put on job fairs.

“It’s very important to host job fairs," Slama said.  "It helps awareness on what’s available.  It also helps people know where to go to to receive the help that they need.”

She said at this Friday's event, they and Jackson Services will be making on-the-spot offers.
